From 24 to 26 April 2014 at the Tashkent pediatric medical Institute, hosted the second plenary session of the European project TEMPUS UZHELTH dedicated to improving health care in Uzbekistan, which was attended by specialists and experts in the field of health systems, agriculture, ecology and veterinary medicine from Italy, Belgium,    Portugal    and    Slovakia.

As noted by the organizers of the meeting\'s objective is to assist held in Uzbekistan, reforms for improving health, improving the level of training of the personnel in this sector, as well as in such areas as veterinary and food safety.

In the framework of the conference on April 25, 2014, at 9:00 opening of the EU project TEMPUS UZHELTH: \"Patterns of higher education for enhanced learning and teaching public health in the Republic of Uzbekistan\".

Opened the official ceremony the Vice-rector on educational work of the Tashkent Pediatric medical Institute Professor Alisher Iskandarov. In his speech he noted: \"On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov 2014 announced the year of a healthy child. In this context, being the lead institution for the training of General practitioners and specialists, paediatricians, we are facing an important and responsible task - further deepening and expansion proposed by the President of the concept of \"Healthy mother - healthy child\". Presented today the new TEMPUS project UZHELTH \"Patterns of higher education for enhanced learning and teaching public health in the Republic of Uzbekistan\", very timely, relevant and fully meets the requirements of the standing now before the health of the country. It can act as a permanent platform where representatives of such areas as agriculture, ecology, veterinary science and medicine will be able to exchange experience and work together to solve problems arising directly or indirectly affect the state of health of the Republic of Uzbekistan\".

In turn, the representative of the delegation of the European Union (EU) in Uzbekistan Dominique Wauters, told about new projects of the European Union and stressed that TEMPUS UZHELTH is one of the 11 selected new Tempus projects, which will be successful and will make a great contribution to the modernization of educational programs. In this connection A. Iskandarov said: \"Our Institute will be pleased to provide their administrative and human resources for the effective and efficient implementation of the project\".

The conference also took part the representatives of various ministries and departments. Welcome speech at the opening ceremony were made by the Head of sector cooperation, the delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan Dominique Wauters; Representative of the Ministry of Higher and secondary special education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Muhabbat Myrsalieva (Muhabbat Mirsolieva); Deputy head of the Main Department of science and educational institutions - head of the Department of educational institutions of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Gulnara Usubaliev (Gulnora Yusupalieva); Head of the Main Department of educational institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sackboy Jankulov (Shakarboy Jonikulov); coordinator of the Office of European Union Tempus and Erasmus in Uzbekistan, Aziza Abdurakhmanova and Professor of the University of Pisa Catherine Isaacs, Expert of Tempus projects.

The project provides for inter-University cooperation, close ties between private enterprises and public institutions, which are involved in the process of creating a more effective public health system.

The overall objective of the event was to create a coordinated information structure for the health sector and for all relevant areas can directly join the project participants and stakeholders; to provide training for health care at all levels (technicians, experts, specialists, research workers) to the health system functioned more effectively.
