The deepening of cooperation of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and the University of Porto (Portugal)

On 24th of June 2016 in the Innovation Center of Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was held a meeting of the delegation of the University of Porto with the Institute administration, in this meeting was signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum envisages the development of cooperation between the two universities, which will prepare various projects and initiatives in the field of medical science and practice.

The delegation of the University of Porto headed by Vice-rector for international relations Professor Fatima Marinho, which made a presentation about their University and presented to the administration of TPMI possible areas for future cooperation.

It should be underlined that the cooperation between the universities began two years ago in the framework of the project Tempus UZHELTH, when the representatives of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute were able to visit the University of Porto and see how it works. Already in the spring 2016 two TPMI students were able to spend 3 weeks in the University of Porto, where they gained some knowledge in public health and experience learning in a foreign University.

Overall, as noted by the rector of TPMI, Professor B.T. Daminov, - "Our Institute is always open to cooperation and ready to start working in the field of joint scientific research projects and training students." Particularly interesting discussion was on training doctors, where they found common ground and mutually beneficial cooperation.
