About Department

       The Department of "Medical Biology and Genetics" of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was founded in 1972. The first head of the department was Professor Akilov Atoulla Turakhanovich (1972-1989). From 1989 to 2007, the department was headed by Professor Kurash Nishanbaevich Nishanbayev. From 2007 to 2009, the department was headed by docent Mukhamedamin Mamedjanovich Shertaev. From 2009 to 2012 the name of the department was changed to "Medical Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Virology and Immunology", from September 2012, to "Medical Biology and Genetics", M.M. Shertayev again instituted as a chief. Since 2017-2018 academic year the department is called "Medical and biological chemistry, medical biology, general genetics", and it is headed by Professor Nosir Mukhamedzhanovich Yuldashev.
      The course "Medical Biology, General Genetics" is intended for the first year students where they are taught during the I-II semesters in subjects "Medical biology, general genetics, basics of parasitology".
Nowadays, in this course classes are conducted by docent M.M. Shertaev, senior lecturers, Ph.D. S.X.Ikramova, I.A.Sultanbekova, assistant Z.A.Chorieva.
The course staff are involved in teaching the subject of biology with the help of new innovative pedagogical technologies in the I-Yunusabad academic lyceum of TashPMI and other medical colleges in Tashkent. In addition, cooperation was established with the departments "Medical Biology, General Genetics" of other medical universities of the country.
Course staff participates in the creation of textbooks, methodical manuals on the subject "Medical Biology, General Genetics." Professor K.N. Nishanbayev created more than 20 teaching aids for students of medical institutes, academician lyceums, colleges and schools. The staff of the department created more than 40 teaching aids.
Course staff and students actively participate in international and national events, congresses and symposiums.
