The announcement was made during a joint meeting of both chambers of the Parliament, which took place in the Palace of Symposia of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

The First President of Uzbekistan had initiated a good tradition to give each year a certain name, to develop a special state programme and implement comprehensive measures. Keeping with this tradition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to proclaim the forthcoming year as the Year of Active Investments and Social Development.
